NICE Assigment: Hold a Graditude Session

One of my favorite blogs is Operation NICE. Sometimes she posts NICE Assignments, and I try my best to do them. Monday's assignment was to Hold a Gratitude Session. I have a lot to be thankful for in my life, so my list could get pretty long...

I'm thankful for // my wonderific hubs / the love bean in my belly / the roof over my head / friends who are like family to me / my family / Andi Jo / Raelin Deann / Ruth Josephina / the baby in my sissy's belly / Timmy's promotion / the internet / my small group / books to read / an easy pregnancy / healthy family / having a job / being able to pay our bills / living in Chicago / a car the runs (most of the time :) / chocolate / my AIGA mentor group / my laptop / ice cream / food in my pantry / creativity / South Loop Church / instant Netflix / all of you who read my blog

The list could go on and on. I think it's important to remember to be thankful for ALL the things in your life, even the little silly things like chocolate or Netflix, because not everyone is lucky enough to have access to those things.

NICE Assignment x2

No, I haven't been slacking off on completing NICE Assignments, I just haven't blogged about it :) The last two have been pretty simple, and there hasn't been much to say.

1. Vote for Operation NICE in the Amway Positivity Project - I've voted lot's of times, you should too. Both the Positivity Project and Operation NICE are great causes!!

2. Get to the Polls - Duh I did this, I think it's important for everyone to vote. It's your right responsibility as an American.

Short and sweet tonight, since I have tons of stuff to do to get ready for the girl's weekend I'm hosting this weekend!!

NICE Assignment: I Miss You

For the first time, since I've started doing NICE Assignments, I skipped one! Last week's or maybe it was posted the week before, not sure...I could go look it up, bu I'm not going to. The assignment was to tell a stranger, who was a woman, that she was beautiful. I was way to chicken, and didn't go through with it. I'm a little disappointed in myself.

This week's assignment was to:
"tell someone that you care about (who maybe you can't be with) just how much you miss them. Even though in your head, absence is making your heart grow fonder, that person might assume that since they are out of your sight, they are out of your mind."
I plan on sending a card to go along with this, but I haven't got around to it...I've had kind of a weird week.

I have a friend, Ashley, who has always been like family to me and well my real family. She's my "I miss you" it's no secret that I'm really bad at talking on the phone, I don't really call many people, combine that with Ashely being in medical school in Michigan (I'm in Illinois), you get two friends who don't get to see or hear from each other very often.

Ashley and I have one of those friendships, where it doesn't matter how much time has passed, things just pick right back up where they left off each time we see each other. Well, at least I feel that way. I hope she does too.

Ashley, if you're reading this, I miss you. I know I'm not the best at keeping in touch. I should get better. You're one of the smartest, most beautiful people I know. I'm so blessed to have a friend like you!

NICE Assignment: Be Nice To Yourself

Melissa of Operation NICE, posted yet another NICE Assignment. I really look forward to them every week, and I get bummed when she skips a week! I definitely think I'm a nicer person, since I started completing them.

Let me elaborate...a portion of my daily commute is the bus, I never really used to smile at or even really knowledge the bus driver, I actually avoided making eye contact so I would have to do either of these. These days, I say "good morning" or "good afternoon" or at the very least smile at the driver when I get on. And if I exited out the front door, I always say "thank you" as I'm getting off.

But back to the assignment - be nice to yourself - this is going to sound strange, but I'm having a difficult time with this one. You see, I am really nice to myself most of the time. It's just the hubs and I, and well he really doesn't really ask for much, so I generally have lot's of time to relax at night and just enjoy being with him. I don't have stressful demanding job, children or even a pet (we got some sad news about Kaiser...I'm waiting for some details to be confirmed, then I'll share) to look after.

To complete the assignment, I've decided to just take a moment and be more appreciative of how good I have it. And really take the time to enjoy my nights at home, because someday when we have a little monster runnin' around that will all change...
