My Style: Kenlee Flannel Flip Boots

This will be the first of a few posts on how I plan to wear my latest purchase the, Mossimo Kenlee Flannel Flip Boots that I talked about in my last post. I put this outfit together using Polyvore.

I'm in love with those little deer earrings! They're so cute. As we head into Fall I'll definitely be pairing the boots with skinny jeans and a slouchy sweater. I probably wouldn't actually wear the jacket until Fall was in full swing, but the rest of it would be perfect for a cool day.

Mini Shopping Spree

Typically I'm not a huge online shopper, but I was feeling it today and made a few purchases.

Eight of these fun Brilliant Batik Knobs from Anthropologie. On sale for $2.95 a pop (originally $8). When they arrive they'll be replacing the ones on love bean's dresser.

Knee high black boots are a MUST for me in the Fall and Winter. I was sad to need to replace my old ones, but they really were worn out. These Merona Kasia Tall Leather Boots from Target, look so similar to the ones I have and love, that I just had to scoop them up.

And since a girl can never have too many pairs boots (and hubs said I could get them) I bought a pair of Mossimo Kenlee Flannel Flip Boots. I feel a little guilty for buying two pairs of new boots for myself, when the love bean's arrival is just around the corner, but I know they'll get worn enough to justify buying them.

Love Bean Update: 35 weeks

I'm two weeks from being considered full term! I'm starting to be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Though I heat these last 5ish weeks will seem to be the longest, I'm really not that worried. I'm still really little, so I haven't really been that uncomfortable, besides the occasional baby foot jabbing my rib cage. Really through out the last 8 months my only complaint has been that I can't enjoy a beer or a margarita every now and then.

Overall being preggo has been better than I expected. But there are a few things that I've been disappointed about and a few things that I've discovered that I'd like to share.

  • No cravings! I really just wanted to wake up at 3am wanting to eat something crazy and make Tim go out a get for me. No luck. I've tried to fake it, but he sees right through me.
  • The glucose test isn't bad. I was dreading having to drink the sugar drink because I'd only ever heard about how horrible it was. I was imagining having to drink a 2 liter of this nasty stuff, but it turns out it's like 3 big gulps of a flat pop. If I can drink it on the "L" with no chaser and without gagging, then it can't be that bad.
  • Comparing your pregnancy to other people's isn't worth the anxiety it causes. Every mom and every baby are different.
  • Young men and women not giving up their seat on a crowded train or bus. My whole pregnancy I've only had 3 people offer me their seats. I've only actually said yes once, but it's the thought that counts. I'm going to give my fellow commuters the benefit of the doubt and chalk it up to the fact I didn't really look pregnant for the first 7 months.
  • 3D ultrasounds are creepy. At one of my ultrasounds the tech turned on the 3d machine because she was having trouble getting a clear image - creepiest thing I've ever seen. Don't get me wrong, I love the little bean inside of me, but I had to look away.
  • Roughly 5 weeks to go and I'm still waiting for that "nesting phase" to hit. I hope this isn't another one of those things moms exaggerate and that it does actually set in, because love bean's nursery isn't even close to being ready for her
  • You need to educate yourself! I read a lot of articles about pregnancy related stuff, just ask my family. They get really sick of me saying "I read that..." I just think it's important to know what's going on with your body and baby so you can make the best decisions for both of you.
  • I haven't experienced crazy mood swings, but I have noticed I get annoyed by little things a lot easier. For example the other day on Facebook I saw someone called the "Magnificent Mile" the "Miracle Mile" (that's the nickname for the shopping on Michigan Ave. here in Chicago) and it annoyed me for like half the day. Normally I wouldn't even think twice about it.
I'm starting to get really anxious about what life will be like once love bean's enters the world. This is starting to eclipse my fear of labor, so it's kind of a welcomed distraction.

Goodbye Dino

I get to say good bye to my dinosaur of a laptop! After lots of issues and three trips to talk to the Geniuses at the Apple Store, last night I brought home a brand new MacBook Pro! I haven't switched over to yet...I'm calibrating the battery. Should have done that last night.

At the beginning of June of my old laptop totally freaked out and did this weird static-pixel thing. At the time I had to choose between replacing the logic board or getting a new one. Two months ago, life was crazy, we were trying to move and they could guarantee that I wouldn't lose any information from hard drive. So, we replaced the logic board.

Fast forward to mid July. Laptop starts randomly turning off and getting really really hot, like burn your legs hot. We dealt with it and kept talking about how we should have it looked at again. I took it in to the Genius Bar. The guy I talked to too pretty much told me I wasted my money replacing the logic board and that I should I bought a new computer then. But, he couldn't tell me WHY my computer was randomly turning off. I left annoyed and with no other choice than to just deal with the random shutting down.

Timmy and I discussed getting a new laptop, but with the love bean on the way we didn't really want to spend the moo-la on it. Especially after just paying $770 for a new logic board two months ago. Well a couple days ago, my old dinosaur shut down and wouldn't come back on. Another trip to the Apple Store for this girl.

Thankfully, this time the guy I talked to, Will, was AWESOME! He did some trouble shooting, got my laptop to power up, and even though the error code that was coming up wasn't in his Apple Support, he agreed that it probably had something to do with the new logic board. Since it still fell under the warranty he said they would replace it for free. Thinking it couldn't hurt anything to ask, I asked, "So is it possible to credit the money for the logic board towards a new laptop, rather than replacing it?" He said it wasn't something they typically do, but he'd ask a manager.

A few minutes later, he came back with good news and introduced me to Chris, who helped me get set up with my new laptop! I was a happy girl and it must have shown because as I was leaving, Chris said to me, "I've never seen someone so laid back about having to replace their computer after it crashed twice."

This morning I'm still happy with how everything played out, and can't wait to get everything transferred over to the new laptop!!
